How to Find Affordable Health Insurance in the State of Wyoming

Wyoming Affordable Health InsuranceMedicaid provides a wide variety of health insurance programs for Wyoming's low-income families who meet specified income guidelines. Medicaid offers free insurance coverage for very low-income families and pregnant women.

A family of four with a monthly income of $659 would be eligible for free coverage. Other categories include coverage for children 6-19 in families with income not exceeding 100% of Federal Poverty Level (FPL), and pregnant women and children through 5 with incomes not exceeding 133% of FPL.

Medicare is a public health insurance program that pays for hospital, medical or prescription costs, depending on income. Medicare Savings Program helps low-income residents at 100%, 120% and 135% of FPL who are on Medicare to pay for premiums, deductibles, and co-payments.

Wyoming Health Insurance Premium Payment (WHIPP) program helps insured Wyoming residents with significant health care expenses. In addition to their current private insurance, residents must qualify for a Medicaid program. WHIPP will evaluate their current insurance and may require them to remain covered while Medicaid pays for premium, co-payments and deductibles. Working adults with disabilities may qualify for medical insurance through Wyoming's Employed Individuals with Disabilities (EID) program. Income eligible (maximum $2,094 per month) adults 16 through 64 may apply for Medicaid benefits through EID; monthly premiums are based on income.

Uninsured pregnant women age 19 through 44 may qualify for benefits through the Pregnant By Choice program if their incomes are no more than 133% of FPL.
