How to Find Affordable Health Insurance in the State of New York

Family Health Plus is public health insurance for low-income New York residents who don't qualify for Medicaid because their income is too high. There are no deductibles, and persons age 19 to 64 may apply. Income limitations apply.
Children under 19 can qualify for health insurance through New York's Children's Medicaid or Child Health Plus programs. Medicaid has established income levels for children under one and pregnant women, and children 1-18. Child Health Plus income guidelines has premium categories from $0 to $60 per child and $180 per family depending on income levels. Elderly Pharmaceutical Insurance Coverage (EPIC) is available to citizens 65 and older to help them pay for their prescription medication. Income levels for eligibility are limited to $35,000 per year or less.
Free medical treatment is available for those with AIDS/HIV who have no insurance coverage. It includes AIDS Drug Assistance Program (ADAP) that gives free medication to people with AIDS/HIV, ADAP Plus program that offers free medical treatment at hospitals and clinics, HIV Home Care Program that covers home care services for HIV patients, and ADAP Plus Insurance Continuation Program for people with AIDS/HIV who have health insurance but can't afford to pay their portion of medical expenses.
